REDCAT Rebranding

Regarded as "the gold standard of the avant-garde in L.A.” (Huffington Post), The Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) is an interdisciplinary contemporary arts center for innovative visual, performing and media arts located in downtown Los Angeles inside the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex.

Each season REDCAT presents work by globally renowned artists, inside one of the most versatile and technologically advanced presentation spaces in the world. Through transmedia performances, exhibitions, screenings, and literary events, REDCAT introduces diverse audiences to the most influential developments in the arts from around the world.

This is a rebranding design project for REDCAT. The logo itself derives from the theatre seating at REDCAT, descending down to the main stage—these linework can also serve as placeholder for information throughout the print collaterals and web-based media. The playful bars make up main graphic elements for the entire branding, along with the new color palette, which delivers spontaneous and modern feeling toward the brand itself.

REDCAT'S brochure features main programs of the institution, as well as highlights from the gallery and from the performance. It also serves as a quick flip-through of the upcoming performances and exhibition from 2018–2019. The brochure ends with a series of snapshots from the performer, NoodleRice Studio, so as to add up a playful elements
while at the same time, to give artists in this region the creative support.
